
Kraken clients stake over 166,000 ETH in Ethereum 2.0
Kraken users deposited 166,624 ETH into Ethereum 2.0 for staking. Beaconcha.in data show this.
On Tuesday, December 8, Kraken reported the deposit of 100,000 ETH, or about 8% of all coins locked in Ethereum 2.0.
As of writing, there are 33,275 active validators on the network. In total, more than 1 million ETH have been staked.

Ethereum’s lead developer Justin Drake noted that Kraken contributed 10.7% of the funds to the Ethereum 2.0 deposit contract. In wallet terms, the exchange surpasses Coinbase and Bitfinex, which could control a third of the validators.
10.7% of validator deposits are from Kraken.
Coinbase and Bitfinex have 5.8x more ETH than Kraken. Two exchanges could control 1/3 of the validators. Five exchanges could control 1/2 of the validators.

The launch of Phase 0 of the second version of Ethereum 2.0 took place on December 1. The next day in the network the first validator was penalized—on slot 6669 he lost 0.25 ETH for distorting a block.
