Kraken fixes withdrawal delays

Kraken fixes withdrawal delays

The Kraken cryptocurrency exchange fixed issues in the Bitcoin, Ethereum, and ERC-20 gateways, which caused deposits and withdrawals to be delayed.

The problem arose on June 6 at 10:44 (MSK/Kyiv time). Then the platform published a warning about potential difficulties in depositing and withdrawing assets.

Half an hour later, the exchange’s technical team fixed the error, reporting that the deposit and withdrawal processes had normalised.

On the same day, Kraken suspended the futures platform for 10 minutes, citing site maintenance.

In April the Bitcoin exchange filed a lawsuit against the US Internal Revenue Service (IRS), which demanded the platform provide data on users. Kraken denies the regulator’s right to obtain information about digital asset transactions, calling the IRS’s demands ‘an unwarranted treasure hunt’.

The regulator’s requirements apply to users with trading volumes over $20,000 in a 12-month period from 2016 to 2020. Regulators said their actions are aimed at identifying tax evaders.

Earlier in March, Kraken confirmed the launch of its own bank, despite regulatory troubles.

In April the exchange’s subsidiary obtained a license in Ireland as a virtual asset service provider.

In June Kraken appointed a new technical director — Vishnu Patankar. He shared his vision for platform development and spoke about the advantages of AI for the crypto industry.
