Kraken hires former Gemini UK head Blair Halliday

Kraken appoints Blair Halliday as MD, UK, as it expands in a leading regional market.

The cryptocurrency exchange Kraken has appointed Blair Halliday, the former head of Gemini’s UK unit, as Managing Director for the UK.

He will focus on expanding Kraken’s footprint in the region, one of the exchange’s leading markets by trading volume.

\n\n\n\n

Blair Halliday has experience in banking and compliance. He previously held roles at Circle, Intercontinental Exchange, JPMorgan and NatWest.

\n\n\n\n

Curtis Ting, the former head of Kraken’s UK unit, expanded his remit, taking on oversight for several regions.

\n\n\n\n

The platform plans to recruit more staff for legal, compliance and operational teams, and to launch an NFT marketplace.

\n\n\n\n

In late September Kraken co-founder Jesse Powell stepped down as CEO, with former chief operating officer Dave Ripley taking the helm.
