Kraken launches beta version of NFT marketplace

Cryptocurrency exchange Kraken announced the launch of the beta version of its own NFT marketplace.

The platform is available to a limited number of users. Invitations are being sent by email.

Initially, more than 70 non-fungible token collections on Ethereum and Solana will be listed on the marketplace. According to the site, no fees are charged for transactions.

«We are not chasing temporary market phenomena; we are implementing technologies that provide financial freedom and independence,» the company said.

Kraken opened a waitlist for its own NFT marketplace in May 2022. At that time, representatives from the exchange promised to offset users’ gas costs incurred by transactions on the platform.

Earlier in September, Kraken co-founder Jess Powell announced his departure as CEO. He was succeeded by former chief operating officer Dave Ripley.

In October the exchange barred users from Russia from registering accounts, and restricted accounts based in Russia.
