KuCoin will not block Russian users' accounts without regulator's decision

The Seychelles-based crypto exchange KuCoin said it would not restrict Russian clients’ access to cryptocurrencies amid the Ukraine situation.

According to KuCoin’s CEO Johnny Lyu, the exchange will suspend account activity only at the request of the local regulator.

“We stand for the protection of human rights and the security of every user’s assets. KuCoin operates under the laws of the Seychelles and handles clients’ digital assets only in accordance with them. We maintain a neutral policy, so we will not freeze anyone’s account without proper legal requirements. In these difficult times, actions that could infringe the rights of innocent people should not be encouraged,” he commented.

Earlier, a top executive of the trading platform заявил, that cryptocurrencies are not only a hedging instrument: at present they are more effective than conventional assets. It is easier for people to transfer them across borders and make donations.

To buy or sell cryptocurrencies for rubles, KuCoin customers can use the P2P platform and the «Fast Buy» feature. In the near future, the exchange will launch additional channels for the ruble market.

KuCoin will redistribute 90 million KCS among investors and founders.
