Kunlun Tech Launches AI Platform for Video Creation

Chinese online game publisher Kunlun Tech has introduced an AI-based tool for creating short dramas, according to SCMP.

Skyreels, described as the “world’s first platform” for generating videos using artificial intelligence, is built on the company’s proprietary large language models.

The platform can generate scripts, characters, plots, storyboards, dialogues, and music to create a short video up to 180 seconds long. This is three times longer than OpenAI’s Sora.

Kunlun Tech is known for online games such as Girl’s Dream Factory and Tale of Wuxia. Previously, it launched an AI-powered music streaming platform and a sound creation tool called Mureka. Since 2020, the Chinese firm holds a controlling stake in the owner of the Opera browser.

In 2023, Kunlun Tech expanded its AI activities into web search, music, video games, and video.

“The capabilities of customer-oriented products are unprecedented, as AI has significantly reduced the cost of content creation,” stated Kunlun Tech CEO Fan Han in June.

He noted that the company will continue to develop AI-based tools to enable users to create entertainment content.

Back in February 2023, Kunlun Tech announced plans to integrate the AI chatbot ChatGPT into the Opera browser.
