In Prokopievsk, police detained a local resident on suspicion of stealing cryptocurrency mining devices. The department’s press service reports.
According to investigators, a 30-year-old man with a prior conviction used a crowbar to break through the garage wall, from which he heard the sounds of running computer equipment. He removed the equipment and transported it by car. The damage amounted to 230,000 rubles.
Part of the stolen goods was sold by the offender through a classifieds site for 100,000 rubles. During a search at the suspect’s residence, police discovered and seized the stolen laptop. They are now seeking the rest of the equipment.
A criminal case has been opened for theft. The offender faces up to five years in prison.
