Kyrgyz authorities seize over 2,000 mining devices
The State Committee for National Security of Kyrgyzstan has identified illegal mining farms in Bishkek and the Chuy Region.
Sputnik reports that the committee has also identified industrial facilities that illegally supply electricity for mining operations.
A pretrial investigation has been initiated in connection with the case, and 2,000 devices have been seized for cryptocurrency mining.
The committee noted that mining is causing significant damage to Kyrgyzstan’s power grids.
In June 2020, Kyrgyzstan’s parliament passed in the third reading a bill to amend the Tax Code. It establishes a 15% tax for miners.
