Lindsay Lohan sells ‘Bitcoin NFT’ at auction; price tops $70,000

The actress and singer Lindsay Lohan created an NFT named Lightning and sold it on the Rarible auction.

Initially the token was purchased by a user going by the handle Loopify for 10 Wrapped ETH ($17,360). An hour later it was purchased by someone calling themselves ‘Mr. Lohan’ for 33 ETH ($57,290).

As of writing, the token’s owner had listed it for sale at 39.69 ETH (over $70,000).

A portion of the proceeds from the resales will be returned to the actress, who intends to donate them to “charitable organizations that accept Bitcoin”.

Lindsay Lohan drew attention to her NFT token on February 10 with a tweet about «туземуне биткоина».

Bitcoin is the future, happening now. Support my vision of empowerment by collecting this 1 of 1 NFT from @rariblecom https://t.co/0JvU0d1tNI

“The future belongs to Bitcoin. I believe in a world of decentralized finance and the power of the dream behind the human ‘Lightning Network’,” the token description on the trading platform says.

In the comments, followers corrected Lohan, noting that NFT tokens are issued on the Ethereum blockchain, not Bitcoin. They also explained that the Lightning Network is primarily designed to scale the first cryptocurrency’s network.

Earlier this year, in late January, Topps Digital released 18 NFT-style cards featuring Bernie Sanders in mittens. His photograph became a meme after Joe Biden’s inauguration.

Creator of the animated series ‘Rick and Morty’ Justin Roiland sold the debut collection of NFT crypto art for 1,300 ETH (about $1.65 million).
