LINE to Integrate Games into Sony's Soneium Blockchain

On March 12, a division of the Japanese corporation Sony signed an agreement with Japan’s leading messenger LINE to transfer four mini-games onto the Soneium blockchain.

According to a press release, LINE is used daily by approximately 200 million people. The integration of applications with Soneium aims to simplify access to blockchain technologies and create a convenient, scalable environment for users.

LINE MINI App developers will receive support from Soneium, including assistance in community building, marketing strategies, and collaborations with intellectual property. This will open new opportunities for startups and developers to focus on innovation.

The applications being integrated include Sleepagotchi, Farm Frens, Puffy Match, and Pocket Mob. This will enable the implementation of reward and purchase functions directly within the game interfaces.

Soneium is managed by Sony Block Solutions Labs (SBSL), a joint development by Sony and Singapore’s Startale Labs.

The blockchain ranks 15th among L2 networks by TVL (data from L2BEAT). The platform operates on Optimism’s OP Stack technology and aims to remove barriers for transitioning between Web 2.0 and Web3.

Back in January 14, the Soneium mainnet was launched. On the same day, users accused the project’s developers of blocking “undesirable” tokens.
