Line to launch NFT platform
The Japanese company Line, operator of the LINE messaging app, announced the launch of an NFT marketplace on 13 April 2022.
The LINE NFT platform is built on the company’s own LINE Blockchain network. Assets will be stored in the BITMAX Wallet.
It is planned that at launch the marketplace will feature more than 100 NFTs from 17 partner creators.
Among them is Yoshimoto Kogyo, one of Japan’s largest entertainment conglomerates, which will offer unique videos from artists and performers affiliated with it.
A portion of the collectible digital items will be distributed for free as part of the platform’s marketing campaign launched on 24 March.
In the future, NFTs could be used as avatars, prizes, and other applications within the messaging ecosystem.
Line is owned by Z Holdings — a subsidiary of SoftBank and Naver Corporation. In March the company announced the launch of the global NFT platform Dosi, which will be available in 180 countries in the second quarter.
According to CoinPost, the platforms will operate independently of each other.
In February, the Japanese e-commerce giant Rakuten launched its NFT marketplace.
