LinkedIn signals growth in the number of professionals with AI skills.

Since the start of April, mentions of terms related to generative AI (GAI) by LinkedIn users in the United States have risen by 25% from the previous month. According to the network’s report.

LinkedIn professionals report that keyword usage, including ‘GAI’, ‘ChatGPT’ and ‘prompt design’, is rising by an average of 75% each month.

In June, participants added similar terms to their profiles 15 times more often than in January.

Overall by June, the number of LinkedIn users with AI skills had grown ninefold since January 2016.

Leading the way are Singapore, Finland and Ireland.

“By 2022, 17 in 1,000 LinkedIn members reported possessing AI skills. This is a significant leap compared with 3 in 1,000 in 2016,” LinkedIn noted.

The technology sector remains dominant, followed by financial services and retail.

The survey showed that 51% of US executives are enthusiastic about AI, but only 4% plan to rethink roles and reduce headcount.

84% of Americans believe that generative AI can automate at least a quarter of their tasks, boosting productivity and opening up specialized roles.

As Gartner’s latest survey shows, 66% of respondents consider generative AI one of the main risks for organizations.
