Lukashenko urges Belaruskali workers to mine cryptocurrency using cheap electricity

President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko recommended employees of the state-owned company "Belaruskalij" to use cheap electricity to mine cryptocurrencies. This, сообщает Telegram channel "Пул Первого".

During the meeting with workers, the head of state noted that Belarusians are hardly in demand abroad and should remain on home soil and seek additional sources of income.

“Just a little money—set up greenhouses, put them up, and create something using electricity. After all, start mining cryptocurrency, or whatever it’s called. There is enough electricity in the country,” Lukashenko said.

As premises for the miners’ needs, the head of state proposed using the freed production facilities in the town of Petrikov.

Back in March 2018 Belarus enacted the Decree on the Development of the Digital Economy, which established the framework for the use of cryptocurrencies and tokens, and introduced tax breaks for crypto operations.
