«Mailchimp without reason blocked the Messari email account», — said the co-founder of the analytics firm Ryan Selkis.
Sam Richads from the Ethereum Foundation confirmed that access to the account was closed without any prior notice or explanation.
Decrypt also reported that the shutdown from the service, which the publication had used for the last four years, occurred without warning.
The editor-in-chief of Decrypt, Daniel Roberts noted that recently the platform had blocked several more crypto newsletters from other projects, including players in the NFT space.
The platform also banned the CTO of Cryptoon Goonz, the firm behind the eponymous token collection, Jesse Friedland’s account, on August 5. In the letter he received from Mailchimp, it said:
«We cannot allow a business to engage in selling, transacting, trading, exchanging, storing, marketing or creating cryptocurrencies and any digital assets».
Banned by Mailchimp today.
Apparently there’s too much «risk» servicing companies involved in crypto. Despite applying as an Apparel brand.

NFT artist going by the pseudonym Ocarina had the ability to send mailings closed on August 1. In its explanation, Mailchimp stated that «industry-related content contravenes the acceptable use policy».
Lol, @Mailchimp suspended my new account to tell you all about drops because » because the content associated with your industry conflicts with our Acceptable Use Policy» — so, Twitter it is. Sorry :/ pic.twitter.com/S7qv7yUiVb

Edge Wallet also faced access issues on August 8. The company’s CEO, Paul Puey, suggested that the wave of blockages of crypto-industry figures was more likely tied to a personal decision by one of the leadership, and that sanctions by the U.S. Treasury against the Tornado Cash mixer simply coincided in time.
«Dear Mailchimp team, thank you for removing from your platform in the last 48 hours some of the respected crypto brands, including Messari and Decrypt. You confirm our view — Mailchimp and all speech censors must be destroyed», — commented Selkis on the latest events.
Dear @Mailchimp,
Thank you for deplatforming some of crypto’s most reputable brands in the past 48 hours, including @MessariCrypto and @decryptmedia.
You’re proving our point.
Mailchimp — and all speech censors — must be destroyed.

Back in 2018, Mailchimp had already blocked accounts related to the cryptocurrency industry. The same year, Twitter also banned advertising of digital assets and ICOs on its platform.
