The Manta Network team announced the launch of the alpha mainnet of the second-layer network Pacific for applications based on zero-knowledge proofs (ZK).

In July the project raised $25 million to build the ZK network and launched the Pacific testnet. According to the statement, more than 250 smart contracts were deployed in the protocol, 4 million transactions were processed, and 200,000 wallets were activated.
Manta Pacific is positioned as the first modular EVM-native execution layer, designed specifically for deploying ZK applications.
The network is built using a modified OP Stack software package from Optimism.
The L2 protocol uses Celestia to ensure data availability and reduce the cost of data transmission. In the testnet phase, Ethereum was used for this purpose.
Pacific provides developers with universal ZK as a Service schemes and an SDK with Plug-and-Play functionality.
“We believe that ZK applications are the next generation of dapps, as they place a strong emphasis on user security and privacy,” the team said.
In August, the public launch of Coinbase’s L2 Base network took place. By early September, the protocol rose to ninth place by assets locked, at $380 million.
