Mastercard launches AI shopping bot

Mastercard’s AI division — Dynamic Yield — представило the Shopping Muse chatbot, which serves as an online shopping assistant.

According to the press release, Shopping Muse is a “modern generative AI tool that will improve how consumers search for and discover products in the digital catalog”.

Users of the chatbot will be able to phrase requests in plain language in the context of locating the required products, and the neural network, using “algorithmic content matching”, will surface suitable recommendations.

Using integrated advanced image-recognition tools, retailers can recommend suitable products based on visual similarity to others even in the absence of technical tags.

The tool also takes into account the history of viewed products to better gauge future shopping intent.

“Personalisation gives people the shopping experience they want, and AI-powered innovations are the key to creating engaging and tailored online shopping,” said Ori Bauer, CEO of Dynamic Yield.

Mastercard acquired Dynamic Yield in 2022 from McDonald’s. The unit of the payments giant has offices in Tel Aviv, New York, Tokyo, Riga, Barcelona and other major cities.

In late November, Amazon Web Services announced an AI-powered corporate chatbot named Q.
