The tech giant Amazon is preparing Web3 initiative related to non-fungible tokens (NFTs). The launch is scheduled for spring 2023, Blockworks reports, citing four sources.
According to the press, Amazon is recruiting figures from the digital collectibles industry. Among them are L1-blockchains, gaming startups, developers and exchanges.
One source believes that the tech giant plans to offer customers crypto games with free NFTs.
The Amazon initiative remains in development. According to sources, the company will issue a full project announcement in April.
In spring 2022, Amazon CEO Andy Jassy allowed NFT sales on the company’s platform in the future. He also stressed that he expects a ‘significant growth’ in the non-fungible token sector.
Earlier in November, the NYT reported plans for Amazon to cut a record 10,000 employees in its history.
