Media: Bank of Russia building evacuated after bomb threat; anonymous caller mentions mining ban
The Bank of Russia received an anonymous bomb threat against the regulator’s building in Moscow. «RIA Novosti», citing sources, reports that the message from the unknown attacker mentioned the central bank’s proposal to ban cryptocurrency mining in Russia.
A check is underway; all staff have been evacuated.
In a statement to ForkLog, the Bank of Russia’s press service said that the information about the bomb threat turned out to be false, and staff are returning to the building. The regulator did not disclose further details.
Earlier, on 20 January the Bank of Russia released a report in which proposed to ban the issuance, circulation and exchange of cryptocurrencies, as well as their mining on the territory of Russia.
