Media identify Paxos as the sender of a Bitcoin transaction with a $510,000 fee
The sender of the Bitcoin transaction with an enormous fee of $510,000 turned out to be the infrastructure blockchain company Paxos. The Block reports.
A company spokesperson confirmed the overpayment, attributing it to a one-off error.
“This affected only Paxos’s corporate activities. Clients and end users of Paxos were not harmed, and all client funds are safe,” he added.
The crypto-services provider has already contacted the mining pool F2Pool, which processed the transaction, to return the funds.
After the necessary checks, F2Pool said they have returned 19.82 BTC to Paxos.
We would like to provide an update regarding the recent mistakenly overpaid ~20 BTC transaction fee we received. After conducting identity verification, we have confirmed the ownership of these BTC, and fully refunded the fee to the sender, @Paxos.
