The European electricity supplier CEZ Group disclosed the largest electricity theft in its history. The cause was an illegal mining farm operating in Bulgaria, according to local publication Vesti.

Company specialists, together with police, discovered illegally connected cryptocurrency mining equipment in one of the farm outbuildings in the Bulgarian village of Herakovo.

As a result of the raids, law enforcement authorities uncovered more than 1,000 mining rigs. All equipment was confiscated.

According to preliminary estimates, the stolen electricity is equivalent to the monthly consumption of 4,250 households.

Earlier in 2018, unknown attackers stole from Bulgarian miners 21 units of cryptocurrency mining equipment.
