Media reports that BitBay founder and former CEO has gone missing

On 10 March, the founder and former head of the cryptocurrency exchange BitBay (now Zonda), Sylvester Sushyk, left his home in Katowice, Poland, for a business meeting in an unknown direction and has not been heard from since.

RMF24 confirmed the information, citing local law enforcement.

Previously, Sylvester Sushyk ceased to be involved with BitBay, which underwent a rebrand and took on a new name.

Zonda’s services are used by more than 1 million users; the company is regulated by Estonia’s Bureau of Money Laundering Data. The platform offers 156 trading pairs across 55 crypto assets.

According to CoinGecko, Zonda’s trading volume in the last 24 hours was $6.12 million. There is no information on users having trouble accessing their funds on social media.

In 2018, the Polish Financial Supervisory Authority included BitBay in a list of companies conducting unauthorized financial activity. In the same year, the bitcoin exchange relocated to Malta.

In 2019, the co-owner of Poland’s Bitcoin exchange BitMarket was found in a forest, shot in the head.
