
Media: Trump earned up to $1m from NFT sales
Sales of the NFT collection of cards depicting Donald Trump earned the former US president between $100,001 and $1 million. CoinDesk reports.
The publication cites a statement by a politician to the Office of Government Ethics in the United States.
The Trump Digital Trading Cards series of 45,000 collectible tokens was released in December 2022. Each card sold for $99. They sold out within 24 hours.
The cards depict the former US president in various guises, including a superhero with laser eyes.
According to CryptoSlam, the total sales volume of Trump Digital Trading Cards exceeded $19 million. According to OpenSea data, 65% of NFT owners in the Trump collection hold only one token, while another 23% hold two to three.
Earlier in March, days before Trump faced 30 counts in an indictment, the trading volume of NFTs featuring his image jumped 440%.
In December 2021, former First Lady Melania Trump launched an NFT platform and unveiled her first digital artwork on the Solana blockchain.
