Media: Venezuelan authorities move to shut down mining farms

The Venezuelan state-owned electricity company, Corpoelec, has begun forcibly disconnecting Bitcoin miners at the authorities’ behest. The report, citing Criptonoticias, says.

According to him, the measure affected only Carabobo state in the north of the country. The source said he learned of the shutdown of mining equipment over the past weekend.

“I don’t know anyone in Carabobo whose farm would still be running,” the source said.

He says industry representatives have been invited to Caracas to discuss the procedure for connecting to the national power grid and tariffs.

In September, Venezuelan authorities allowed miners to operate, but only after obtaining a license and joining the national pool.
