Meta Integrates AI Assistant Across Its Platforms

Meta has announced the launch of its free AI assistant, Meta AI, on WhatsApp, Instagram, Facebook, and Messenger.

The assistant answers questions, generates images, and creates animations. It is built on the new large language model Llama 3.

“We believe Meta AI is the most intelligent AI assistant you can use without limitations,” said Mark Zuckerberg.

Meta AI is integrated into the search bar of WhatsApp, Instagram, Facebook, and Messenger apps, where users can ask questions.

The press release provides examples of queries about restaurant recommendations, vacation planning, or advice on decorating a new apartment.

The assistant is also available on the official website, where users can get help with solving math problems or writing professional emails.

According to Meta representatives, the image creation feature will be available in beta on WhatsApp and the website. It works as follows: users first see a preliminary image when entering text, and Meta AI provides suggestions for adjusting the final result. Illustrations can also be converted into animated GIFs and shared in messengers.

Meta introduced the AI assistant in September 2023. As of April 19, 2024, the tool became available in several countries, including the United States, Canada, New Zealand, and Australia.

Earlier in April, the company announced the implementation of a next-generation AI chip.
