Meta announced a reorganisation of its AI division. As a result, the vice-president for artificial intelligence and the group head Jerome Pesenti will leave his post.

According to Meta’s Chief Technology Officer, Andrew Bosworth, the company plans to integrate AI teams more closely into a range of products and not to use the division as a centralised organisation.
“The changes are intended to apply the latest AI technologies at scale across the company,” he said.
The FAIR research group, led by Meta’s Chief AI Scientist Yann LeCun, will join Reality Labs, pooling resources within the augmented and virtual reality division.
“Centralised approaches hit their limitations when ‘the last mile’ proves too distant for lower-tier teams to bridge the gap,” wrote Bosworth.
He added that the new structure would push the frontiers of AI capabilities and use the technology to create new features and products for billions of people.
As previously reported, in May Meta opened its first offline store.
In April, a former employee warned about the privacy threat in the metaverse.
