Meta will create an internal product group focused on generative AI. In time, the developments will be rolled out across the company’s social apps.
According to Axios, the new division will report to the current Chief Product Officer, Chris Cox. The team will be led by Ahmad Al-Dahleh, vice president of AI and ML, who previously worked on Apple’s Special Projects group.
Likely the AI-generated-content unit is linked to competitors’ activity in this space. struck a multi-year partnership with OpenAI, enabling the tech giant to integrate the California startup’s developments into its products.
Google also unveiled its conversational AI Bard, which it plans to integrate into its search service.
In February, Meta released a large language model LLaMA. According to the company, the model’s performance surpasses popular rivals, including GPT-3.
In November 2021, the tech giant announced the layoff of 11,000 employees.
