Meta Unveils AI Video Generator Movie Gen

Meta Corporation has introduced Movie Gen, an AI generator designed for creating new videos, editing existing ones, and adding sound to them. 

The tool allows users to generate personalized videos featuring real people using a photograph. 

In editing mode, users can make localized adjustments such as adding or removing elements, as well as more significant changes like altering the background and style. 

Audio is generated to match the video’s content. For instance, engine noise, a waterfall in the background, thunder, or music can be added.

The tool can create videos up to 16 seconds long at a frame rate of 16 frames per second.

Currently, Movie Gen is available to select internal staff and external partners, including filmmakers. Integration into the company’s social networks is planned for next year. 

Earlier, at the annual Meta Connect 2024 event in September, the company unveiled several AI innovations. These included new versions of the large language model Llama 3.2, the Meta AI voice assistant, updates to Ray-Ban smart glasses, and other developments.  

Previously, it announced the addition of AI characters created by authors using AI Studio in Instagram.
