Meta Unveils Standalone App for Meta AI Assistant

Meta has launched a standalone app for its assistant, Meta AI, powered by Llama 4.

The digital assistant was previously available on WhatsApp, Instagram, Facebook, and Messenger. Now, users can engage with a personal AI in a standalone app, similar to ChatGPT and other competitors’ solutions.

Mark Zuckerberg’s company’s AI product can draw on information shared by the user on other platforms to provide personalized responses.

According to the developers, the bot has become more social and supports voice interaction—responses are more relevant, and the tone is more conversational.

In voice mode, Meta AI supports all major functions such as creating and editing images.

The app features a Discover feed where users can share their interactions with artificial intelligence.

Thanks to its multi-platform nature, communication with Meta AI is uninterrupted when switching devices or platforms. For instance, one can start a conversation using Ray-Ban Meta glasses and then continue it in the app or on the website.

Meta AI is initially available in 36 countries, with the voice mode currently only in the US, Australia, Canada, and New Zealand.

Back in April, media revealed that chatbots voiced by celebrities for Meta could engage in overtly sexualized conversations with minors.
