MetaMask adds Arbitrum and Optimism support for cross-chain swaps

The team behind the non-custodial wallet MetaMask has added to the Swaps cross-chain swaps aggregator support for Ethereum layer-2 networks Arbitrum and Optimism.

The MetaMask Swaps feature has also become available in the Portfolio Dapp — a universal solution for asset aggregation by accounts, viewing multi-chain balances of tokens and NFTs, and connecting to various networks.

«MetaMask Swaps enables exchanging tokens directly from a desktop or mobile wallet, aggregating data from various DEX and market makers, guaranteeing the best price with the lowest network fees», — the team said.

After the update the feature supports six networks:

Developers launched the cross-chain bridges aggregator MetaMask Bridges in November. In their words, using the Swaps built on it offers a number of advantages:

«It should be remembered that MetaMask is only a data aggregator that enables token exchanges. This means we collect quotes, filter them, and you decide whether to proceed with the transaction. We do not provide liquidity, do not execute trades, and do not sell you tokens», — emphasised the team.

Earlier, developers announced for MetaMask users the ability to buy cryptocurrency via the PayPal payments app.
