MetaMask Integrates ‘Parallelized’ L1 Network Sei

The Web3 wallet MetaMask, with an audience exceeding 100 million users, has added support for Sei.

The integration involves native incorporation of applications, crypto assets, and NFTs in the first-level network. Users can exchange, purchase Sei, and conduct cross-chain operations directly within the wallet.

A dedicated page for the evolving ecosystem has appeared in MetaMask Portfolio. It displays decentralized applications and network activity.

The company stated that the integration aims to simplify interaction with new blockchains and enhance security without the need for manual configuration and third-party tools.

“Expanding MetaMask support for new networks like Sei is intended to address real user challenges. […] Web3 is moving towards a multichain reality, and users should not have to switch between different wallets or use complex bridges,” said MetaMask product lead Gal Eldar.

Sei

Sei was launched in 2023. As part of the Cosmos ecosystem, the project allows developers to create appchains—customizable blockchains for specific applications.

With the launch of the EVM-compatible version Sei V2 in 2024, featuring parallelization support, the platform has garnered significant attention.

Currently, the network processes over 4.2 million transactions daily, boasts more than 11 million active users per month, and its TVL exceeds $600 million.

Expansion from L2

In recent years, MetaMask has actively expanded support for both EVM-compatible networks and other blockchains like Solana. The project aims to become a universal tool for interacting with the on-chain ecosystem. Among the supported networks are Arbitrum, Base, BNB Chain, Linea, and others.

With a market capitalization of $1.69 billion, Sei ranks 76th on CoinGecko. At the time of writing, the crypto asset is trading at $0.29, having increased by 2.9% in the last 24 hours.

Back in May, MetaMask co-founder Dan Finlay did not rule out the issuance of a native token.
