Meta’s board urged to create a bitcoin reserve
Meta’s board has been urged to allocate part of its $72bn in liquid assets to bitcoin as a hedge against dollar debasement.
A #Bitcoin Treasury Shareholder Proposal has been submitted to Meta.

The filing was submitted by an employee of The National Center for Public Policy Research (NCPPR) on behalf of family members who hold shares in the tech giant.
The proponent argued that keeping reserves in cash and equivalents risks losing 28% of their value to inflation.
“Thanks to the verifiable fixed supply, digital gold is the most resilient instrument for preserving capital,” — the statement says.
The proposal cites favourable comments about bitcoin from chief executive Mark Zuckerberg and board member Marc Andreessen, who is also a co-founder of a16z.
By the end of 2024, только 0,01% публичных компаний worldwide held the first cryptocurrency, according to OKG Research.
In December, лишь 0,55% акционеров Microsoft backed the creation of a bitcoin reserve.
Earlier, NCPPR выдвинула a similar proposal to Amazon shareholders.
