Mexican Stock Exchange Weighs Listing of Bitcoin Futures

The Mexican stock exchange is studying the possibility of adding cryptocurrency-based futures to the list of tradable instruments. This was stated in an interview by the platform’s CEO, Jose-Oriol Bosch Par.

The top executive allowed for the addition of futures on the affiliated derivatives exchange MexDer.

According to El Economista, an ETF based on a basket of cryptocurrencies on the Sistema Internacional de Cotizaciones platform, where foreign securities are traded, is also not out of the question ETF.

Earlier in September, Mexico’s central bank, the finance ministry and the National Commission for Banks and Securities warned credit institutions about sanctions for using bitcoin.

Earlier this year, one of Mexico’s wealthiest individuals, Ricardo Salinas Pliego, voiced his trust in digital gold and called fiat money a scam. Later, he announced that his Electra retail network would add support for the Lightning Network.
