Michael Saylor named Bitcoin the winner of 2023

MicroStrategy founder Michael Saylor named Bitcoin the ‘winner of the year’ and attached an image comparing Bitcoin’s growth with that of other assets.

The investor compares Bitcoin’s returns with the Nasdaq and S&P 500 indices, gold, stocks, and silver. In this race, the cryptocurrency emerges the undisputed winner.

However, a day earlier CoinGecko published the top-performing digital assets by momentum in 2023 among the top 100 by market capitalization. Among them, 92% rose, with Bonk leading at +7302.9%.

On December 30, Saylor posted an image of an ‘army’ of Bitcoin supporters with the asset pictured on banners.

On December 26, the MicroStrategy founder asked his followers how high they expect Bitcoin’s price to rise in 2024.

75,546 votes were distributed as follows:

• $50,000 — 15.8%;
• $100,000 — 34.9%;
• $150,000 — 21.4%;
• above $200,000 — 27.9%.

In December, Saylor suggested that the launch of a spot Bitcoin ETF could be ‘the biggest event on Wall Street in the last 30 years’. In his view, the new instrument will trigger ‘demand shock’ for Bitcoin, followed by a ‘supply shock’ from halving.

Bitcoin could either fall to zero or soar to $1 million, he noted. For the latter, in his view, the asset would require institutional legitimacy.

In December, MicroStrategy bought another 14,620 BTC, increasing its bitcoin reserves to 189,150 BTC, purchased for $5.9 billion at an average price of $31,168.
