MicroBT Unveils New Whatsminer M70 Bitcoin Miners
MicroBT unveiled its latest series of Whatsminer devices for bitcoin mining.
MicroBT unveiled its latest series of Whatsminer devices for bitcoin mining at the Bitcoin MENA 2025 conference, as reported by TheMinerMag.
The series includes three classes based on energy efficiency: 14.5 J/TH (entry-level model M70), 13.5 J/TH (M70S), and 12.5 J/TH (M70S+).

Air-cooled units deliver a hash rate ranging from 214 TH/s to 244 TH/s.
Immersion cooling options (M76 and M78 models) provide 336-476 TH/s.
The most powerful version, the rack-mounted water-cooled Whatsminer M79S, generates 930 TH/s.
MicroBT also announced its move into collaborative mining, introducing HashSmith as its first partner. Major competitors Bitmain and Canaan have focused on independent bitcoin mining since the previous bull market.
During the presentation of the new generation equipment, founder and CEO Yang Zuoxing stated that the industry’s growth will depend on energy efficiency rather than market cycles.
In October, Canaan introduced two air-cooled units, the Avalon A16 (282 TH/s) and Avalon A16XP (300 TH/s), with energy consumption rates of 13.8 J/TH and 12.8 J/TH, respectively.
In November, American manufacturer Auradine opened pre-orders for its third-generation Teraflux units. The air-cooled model generates a hash rate of 240 TH/s with an energy efficiency of 10.3 J/TH, while the liquid-cooled unit offers 600 TH/s and 9.8 J/TH.
Bitmain’s Antminer S23 Hydro, introduced in May, has an energy consumption rate of 9.5 J/TH.
