The investment will enable Microsoft to meet the growing demand for cloud computing services in Indonesia. In addition to developing infrastructure, the funds will be used to train 840,000 Indonesians in AI skills. There are also plans to support the local developer community.
“Investments in digital infrastructure, workforce training, and developer support will help Indonesia thrive in this new era,” Nadella stated.
Minister of Communication and Information Technology Budi Arie Setiadi emphasized the importance of the partnership with Microsoft for realizing the “Golden Indonesia 2045” plan.
“I am confident that this partnership will open new horizons for Indonesia, positioning us not only as consumers of technology but also as key players in the global technology chain,” he said.
Microsoft also announced an expanded commitment to provide 2.5 million people in ASEAN member countries with AI learning opportunities by 2025. The initiative will be carried out in partnership with governments, non-profit and corporate organizations, as well as communities in Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, Thailand, and Vietnam.
