On March 3, law enforcement in Bishkek halted the operation of a mining farm found in the basement of the Quiet Castle hotel. This was reported сообщили to Kyrgyzstan’s State Committee for National Security (GKNB).
According to the agency, the equipment is owned by a local resident born in 1997. He installed 150 ASIC miners in the premises and connected them to the Sever Elektro power network.
“The farm operated illegally, because the National Electric Holding Company temporarily prohibited issuing technical conditions for connecting miners to the grid due to a shortage of electricity in the country,” the GKNB explained.
Authorities are now determining the amount of damage inflicted on the state.
In November 2021, Kyrgyzstan discovered a mining farm with 2,500 servers, camouflaged as a greenhouse.
In December, mining equipment was found in the home of the head of the local RES.
