Montenegro court approves extradition of Do Kwon

A court in Podgorica has approved the extradition of Terraform Labs founder Do Kwon. According to a press release.

According to the document, the requests of both the South Korean authorities and the United States have been satisfied. The final decision on to whom Kwon will be extradited will be made by the country’s justice minister.

Extradition is possible after Do Kwon serves a four-month prison term for document forgery.

On 23 March, Montenegrin police arrested the entrepreneur attempting to depart from Podgorica airport to Dubai using forged documents. In May he and the former chief financial officer of the company did not plead guilty.

In June Kwon was released under house arrest, with bail set at €400 000 ($436 000).

Earlier, South Korea urged Montenegro to extradite Kwon to his homeland. The United States also seeks the extradition of the head of TFL, where he faces fraud charges brought by SEC and the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of New York.
