One of the leading US investment banks, Morgan Stanley, during the third quarter increased the share of GBTC in the Morgan Stanley Europe Opportunity Fund to 1% of its assets under management.

In an SEC filing today, Morgan Stanley Europe Opportunity Fund reported owning 83,803 shares of Grayscale BTC as of October 31.
Previously, the fund reported 58,116 shares as of July 31, and 28,289 shares as of April 30.

According to данным on the SEC site, as of October 31 the fund held 83,803 GBTC shares worth $5.14 million. By the end of the second and third quarters the balance sheet showed 28,289 and 58,116 shares of the bitcoin trust, respectively.
In November ForkLog reported similar rebalancings of Morgan Stanley Growth Portfolio, Morgan Stanley Insight Fund and Morgan Stanley Global Opportunity Portfolio.
The market expects the trend to continue into 2022.
Morgan Stanley funds have reported buying millions of Grayscale BTC shares this year. I expect many similar filings by Morgan in early 2022.

In October, the investment bank barred wealth-management staff from offering clients the launched ProShares futures-based Bitcoin ETF. Prior to that, CEO James Gorman stated that client interest in bitcoin was not high.
Earlier Morgan Stanley began assembling a team that will focus on studying the impact of cryptocurrencies on equities and fixed-income instruments.
