One of the largest American banks, Morgan Stanley, has disclosed its stake in the Grayscale Bitcoin Trust (GBTC).
According to data on the SEC website, as of April 30, Morgan Stanley Europe Opportunity Fund held 28,289 GBTC shares worth $1.3 million.
In March 2021, CNBC sources reported Morgan Stanley’s plans to give accredited investors with at least $2 million in capital access to bitcoin funds.
A month later, in a filing with the US Securities and Exchange Commission the bank did not rule out adding derivatives on the first cryptocurrency to 12 of its own funds.
In June, asset managers New York Digital Investment Group and FS Investments filed with the SEC an application to register a bitcoin fund, intended for Morgan Stanley clients.
