Moscow authorities to bolster collection of residents’ personal data

The Moscow Department of Information Technology (DIT) intends to create a detailed database of the capital’s residents. It plans to spend more than 185 million rubles on it, writes «Ъ», citing materials on the public procurement site.

The database will include a wide range of Moscow residents’ personal data—from passport numbers and TINs to information about actual place of residence, relatives, place of work, and pets.

The system will be integrated with other databases containing information about city residents. It will also be equipped with a special module that checks real income data.

The DIT said that financial information is needed ‘exclusively for providing a range of public services, for example, certain social support measures’.

It is planned that the system will process 20 million user accounts annually.

As reported in November, Moscow authorities ordered the development of a system aimed at building a detailed digital profile of users of all city services.
