Moscow police have detained a man suspected of deceiving a local woman during a cryptocurrency purchase.
According to the MVD, the victim transferred bitcoins worth more than 7 million rubles to the suspect during a face-to-face meeting. The latter proposed waiting for notification of the cryptocurrency receipt and going to a currency exchange point to hand over the cash.
When they reached the exchange, unknown individuals appeared, who put the man into a car and drove away. The victim did not receive payment for the bitcoins.
The woman reported the car make to the police, which led to the detention of the suspect. A criminal case has been opened on suspicion of fraud.
Earlier police identified two suspects in the theft of 50 million rubles from a Tomsk resident, money he obtained from selling cryptocurrency.
