Mt.Gox Transfers $2.3 Billion in Bitcoin to External Addresses

The bankrupt cryptocurrency exchange Mt.Gox has transferred 34,371 BTC (approximately $2.3 billion) to two unknown wallets. The transactions were recorded by the Arkham service.

A total of 32,371 BTC was sent to the address “1FG2C…Rveoy”, while 2000 BTC was transferred to an unmarked wallet “15gNR…a8Aok”.

Data: Arkham.

This operation is the largest in recent months, following a transfer of 500 BTC on November 1. Previous transactions were recorded at the end of September.

In May, Mt.Gox began moving its assets for the first time in five years, which were then valued at 137,892 BTC, or $9.35 billion.

In July, the exchange’s trustee started compensating users through authorized platforms. By the end of the month, Kraken and Bitstamp reported receiving and distributing assets.

However, ForkLog discovered that the compensation process is not proceeding smoothly.

According to Arkham, on August 21, Mt.Gox sent 1,264.7 BTC ($75.36 million) to Bitstamp.

Conversely, Kraken returned 127.6 BTC ($8.07 million) to the platform on September 24.

The last significant transfer to an unmarked address was recorded on August 20.

Subsequently, Arkham analysts recognized the movement of 13,265 BTC ($784 million) as an asset distribution between Mt.Gox’s storage facilities.

At the time of writing, the exchange’s wallets hold 44,378 BTC, valued at $3.05 billion.

The management of Mt.Gox has postponed the deadline for compensation payments to October 31, 2025.
