The startup plans to issue 6,000 tokenised beer-share certificates. The NFTs will give owners the opportunity to receive 100 free cans of beer a year and various levels of governance rights over the Munich brewery. The real business will be acquired after selling 75% of the tokens and renamed to MetaBrewery.
The certificate for free beer may be issued as a separate NFT for potential monetisation, as some owners will have ‘beer rights’ more than they can drink, according to MBS representatives.
In the metaverse, a digital analogue of MetaBrewery will appear—to raise brand recognition and provide an additional platform for selling beer. MBS regards The Sandbox as the base option.
After purchasing the physical brewery, the project will be reformed into a DAO, whose members will be the owners of beer shares.
Co-founder and CEO of MBS Holger Mannweiler expects the organisation to take on a role in the development of the brewery and in consumer taste research.
“The DAO will take on all major business decisions, including which beer to brew, how its price will be profitable for non-NFT holders, and where we will sell it. The organisation will also become a large and sustainable target group that other consumer brands have to spend a lot of time and money to build,” he said.
If successful, the project will scale up.
