Musk unveils plan for a new city as users recall Dogecoin

Tesla and SpaceX founder Elon Musk has approached Texas authorities regarding the creation of a new city named Starbase (Star Base), according to Forbes.

According to the statement by Cameron County Judge Eddie Treviño, SpaceX is interested in including the Boca Chica community in the new settlement, where the company has rocket production and a launch site.

Treviño added that the county would consider any requests in accordance with applicable law.

Musk on Twitter confirmed his intention to create Starbase, which, he said, will cover a larger area than the existing settlement.

“From there to Mars and to the stars,” added SpaceX’s chief.

Commenting to Bloomberg on the company’s likely plans to build around Boca Chica a new city, Judge Treviño said:

“Tweeting does not make this a reality. They still have to clear many hurdles before they can do so. I think they may be getting ahead of themselves.”

In replies to Musk’s tweets, users did not miss the chance to revisit the Dogecoin theme (DOGE), which the entrepreneur regularly addresses in his tweets.

When asked whether the new city would be dog-friendly, he replied:

“Very much so. And its leader will be DOGE.”

The symbol of Dogecoin is the Japanese breed Shiba Inu, memes of which Musk has frequently posted on Twitter. The day before, Musk posted a tweet joking that his messages simply shield the altcoin from price declines.

But in reality they contributed to a Dogecoin pump. For instance, in early February, amid a series of his tweets, the coin’s price rose by almost 50%.

Earlier reports indicated that the SEC was investigating Musk’s Dogecoin posts. The entrepreneur did not confirm them, but welcomed the prospect of a regulatory showdown with enthusiasm.

Earlier, Musk bought some Dogecoin for his younger son. He also said that he had set up ‘small farms’ with his children to mine the coin.
