The Mutiny team выпустила a beta version of a self-custody wallet connected to the Bitcoin Lightning Network.
Meanwhile, the app is not available in the App Store or Google Play stores.
“Our goal is to simplify the process of [buying cryptocurrency] and to provide additional features that no one has seen before. Because of strict App Store requirements, many Bitcoin wallets or services lack features such as tipping or paying for digital content,” the developers said.
Mutiny Wallet is built using a toolkit from Jack Dorsey’s Block — the Lightning Development Kit. According to the startup’s representatives, it enabled them to configure the wallet’s software stack.
The developers have also partnered with the Voltage infrastructure project to ensure liquidity.
Mutiny Wallet will separate funds locked in Lightning channels from those available for on-chain spending. The team noted that they took this compromise to give users greater control over their assets.
The wallet uses standard protection in the form of a seed phrase but offers a remote-storage feature for data recovery. In the future, developers will add the ability to connect to the app on multiple devices simultaneously. However, to avoid ‘bad consequences’, users are advised to use only one.
Mutiny Wallet acknowledged that, at beta stage, errors may still occur, urging caution when sending large sums.
Earlier, Circle запустила the ‘wallet as a service’ platform for developers Web3-applications.
Earlier in July, the MetaMask внесла изменения в интерфейс of its browser extension in the v10.33 crypto wallet release.
