To participate in ETH 2.0, MyEtherWallet users must stake 32 ETH.
“Staked will run a validator node for them, which will simplify participation for users who do not have technical knowledge, so no further action on their part will be required,” said Kosala Hemachandra, CEO of MyEtherWallet.
Users will receive validator rewards in ETH, however they will not be able to withdraw the coins until ETH 2.0 Phase 2 is deployed, which may take a few years.
Earlier this week, the deposit contract for the second version of the Ethereum protocol attracted 1.16 million ETH (~$689.99 million), which equates to 1.02% of the market supply, the second-largest cryptocurrency by market capitalization.
