Mysten Labs Announces Pre-Order for Web3 Console SuiPlay0X1

On September 3, Mysten Labs, the company behind the L1 blockchain Sui, will open pre-orders for the SuiPlay0X1 console, developed in partnership with Playtron for Web3 gaming.

According to VentureBeat, citing a statement from the developers, the device will be priced at $600 (excluding tax and shipping). Purchases can be made using SUI, ETH, or SOL.

The first 1,000 customers to pre-order the SuiPlay0X1 will receive an NFT that grants “special access” to future rewards and discounts. Console deliveries will commence in 2025.

“SuiPlay0X1 will demonstrate that games seamlessly incorporating blockchain technology look and feel no different from traditional Web2 games — it will show gamers worldwide that player ownership through blockchain technology provides a deeper and more engaging gaming experience without disrupting the fun,” said Mysten Labs’ Chief Product Manager Adeniyi Abiodun.

The device is a portable console with the following specifications:

• Processor — AMD Ryzen 7 7840U;
• Graphics Processor — AMD Ryzen 780M GPU;
• Memory — 16 GB RAM, 512 GB SSD, and a memory card slot;
• Screen — 7-inch IPS No-Bezel display with a resolution of 1920×1200;
• Operating System — Playtron;
• Dimensions: 264.5 mm x 105.5 mm x 21.5 mm;
• Weight — 677 g.

The SuiPlay0X1 will be capable of running PC games on multiple platforms, including Epic Games and Steam. Blockchain games from Sui, such as Xociety, Pop Shooter, and Dark Times, will also be available on the console.

“Ultimately, gamers don’t care what technologies underpin the game. Games just need to be fun and work flawlessly,” added Abiodun.

Back in May 2023, Mysten Labs announced numerous partnerships with development companies to launch games on the Sui Network blockchain.
