NCR Corporation closes deal to acquire LibertyX, operator of Bitcoin ATMs

NCR closes acquisition of LibertyX, operator of Bitcoin ATMs.

The American NCR Corporation announced the completion of the deal to acquire LibertyX, the operator of Bitcoin ATMs.

The company intends to use its Pay360 platform to offer new capabilities within solutions for banks, retailers and restaurants.

“LibertyX is well-suited for NCR from a strategic standpoint, as it accelerates its ability to rapidly deliver comprehensive solutions, including cryptocurrency buying and selling, cross-border money transfers, and digital currency payments,” the company said.

NCR Corporation specialises in computing equipment for retail networks, as well as the banking, financial, travel and healthcare sectors. The firm is a Fortune 500 company. Its shares trade on the New York Stock Exchange at around $42.75 a share.

Founded in 2013, LibertyX operates more than 10,000 Bitcoin ATMs in the United States. It supplies software to third-party operators such as Cardtronics, which in early 2021 also acquired NCR Corporation for $2.4 billion.

Earlier in August 2021, NCR Corporation signed a definitive agreement to purchase LibertyX.

Earlier, NYDIG entered into an agreement with the company to provide 650 banks in the United States with access to cryptocurrencies.
