In Moscow, under the pretext of helping to purchase cryptocurrency, the offender stole 7 million rubles. As reported by the local police.

According to investigators, the victim met in a restaurant with a man who promised to help him buy cryptocurrency. The buyer handed him 7 million rubles in cash to purchase the coins and have them credited to a wallet.

Then, under the pretext of counting the money in a confidential setting, the offender went to a staff-only room, where he handed the money to an unknown accomplice, after which they left the restaurant through a rear exit.

Police detained one of the suspects, a 37-year-old out-of-town visitor.

A criminal case has been opened on charges of fraud on a particularly large scale.

Following a court decision, the detainee has been remanded in custody. Law-enforcement authorities are identifying the second accomplice.

In December 2021, from a seller of stablecoins a bag containing $1 million was taken during a deal in Moscow.
