In Voronezh Region, two suspects were detained on charges of theft of funds under the pretext of selling mining equipment, according to the local police.
According to investigators, the detainees posted an online advertisement for selling a mining farm, though in reality they had no equipment.
A resident of the Podgorensky District responded to the advertisement and initially transferred 1,000 rubles as a deposit, and after the criminals sent a photo of the package, he transferred the remaining amount.
Having collected the package from the post office, he found inside two plastic bottles of water and an old fire extinguisher.
Authorities opened a criminal case for fraud.
Earlier in Arkhangelsk, lost more than 8 million rubles while buying mining rigs.
